Hey everybody,
It was a wonderful and indeed memorable weekend though quite tiring. It's like I'm a full time musician for a week. Er.. not exactly a week. Since Tuesday afternoon. :p Every morning I will have to wake up early, not for class, but for keroncong practice in the Chancellor hall. Then in the night for Virtuoso group in the main hall. Though the practice sometimes seems to be wasting a lot of time where we have to wait for our turns to play our songs, but it was indeed fun. With all these, I manage to meet people with various talented regardless of their voice, their music skills and dancing skills. Well, looking at myself, I'm already in final year which means this is the last time I'm going to perform for convocation. I had been involve in convo very since I enter UTP. 1st three years in choir. Last two in keroncong and Virtuoso band. Man.. I gonna really miss all these. It makes me wonder will I have such fun again after graduation in my working life. Hmm...
2 weeks before this, I was wondering if I should join this Virtuoso team as our Rector has rejected all the songs which the previous Virtuoso team had practiced for. I wasn't in that first team as I wasn't back a week before the sem starts. (prefer to be at home :p )So, cikgu was quite pissed as the songs (in line with the theme for that night: jazz) were previously approved by the hi-com but now rejected. He had put so much effort in it and now he have to start all over again. So since he have to start all over again, he ask me to join to help him up. I felt so sorry for him so I sign up to help him up. It was really great seeing how everybody pick up so fast and on the real day itself, it sounded we had already practice for a long time. Lol. We had variety of songs. We had french songs, chinese, indian (first time playing indian songs :p), english oldies and of course malay oldies. All sounded very nice.
For the keroncong, after all this practices and all, well I think I did improve quite alot in my violin skills. Lol. Though the songs that we played were indeed quite easy. Grade 2 or 3 standard I think, but looking at how my teamates play and with some exposure in the "violin world", I've learned how to play nicer and also play with more confident. Besides that, my vibrato (shaking hand) got slight break through dy... :p Thank God for that. I manage to photocopy a few songs from a friend and I think I'm gonna practice those songs and continue improving my violin. Its indeed a fun instrument to learn. Wish me luck.. :p
Kla, I think I write too much. Here are some pictures...

This is our teacher (a really talented guy) and our Virtuoso band members. From the left, Deze (dono his proper name :p), Jep, me and Dak

This is how our Virtuoso team looks like on stage. We have 4 violinist, 2 keyboardist (I'm one of them), drummer, 2 side instrument, bass, electric guitarist and classical guitarist.

Me taking with our female singers after the convo dinner ends.. :p

My all time favourite drummer, Lula... The way he play just so relaxing and nice though cikgu said he isn't hard enough. Well, if I'm as good as him, I'm glad dy..

From left, Foo Piew and Dak.. Both geng.. The way Dak play his clean guitar and his solo really impressing. It really blends well with the band and hooh.. great.. Just great.. Haha..

The main player for the Virtuoso band. Deze the bassist. His timing, his slap skill really nice. I did ask him to teach me how to slap the bass, well, of course still cant beat the sifu.. Geng...

The international dancers and me. Nice and unique performance by them. The movement they did and the way they clap their hands and feet, really nice.

Qi Hua and me. I want to dedicate this pics to her. I was so shock to hear that she had been reading my blog all this while. Guess what, she graduated and now working in Kerteh. The place I stay... Huhu.. But I'm moving back to Sarawak the end of this year liao... So maybe can meet you up in that few days while I'm in Kerteh before moving back to Sarawak. Hehe..

After our convo dinner performance, we had fellowship and sort of small celebration as all our hard work ends that night. This was the reason make me cant wake up the next day.. Shhhh.... :p
